2026-27 Volunteer Form

The PTO Volunteer Program is one of the best ways that parents can support the students and staff at our school.

Please review the brief descriptions of each volunteer area and indicate your preliminary interests. Your contact information will then be forwarded to the PTO board member or committee chair that is pulling together that activity and they will be in touch with you.

General Volunteer Opportunities
Class Support
Volunteering for classroom support will ensure that you are informed of your student's class needs, celebrations, field trips, and more!
Art Assistants
Volunteers are needed to help the art teachers by hanging student artwork around the school. Hours are flexible, and training is provided. Creativity with the art displays is always welcome, but not required!
Clinic
Volunteers are needed to work approximately one mid-day shift per month (or more if you would like) to provide minor first aid and contact parents of sick or injured children for pick up. A brief, free School Clinic training is required and will be provided.
Library
Come volunteer in the library and see your child/children. Fun tasks include book check out, shelving and other special tasks on a weekly, biweekly, or monthly basis. Training provided.
School Coupon Books
The PTO helps the school with this fundraiser by filling daily orders and distributing prizes. Volunteers are needed for 2 hours in the morning during a 2 week period in the fall. Volunteers on the day(s) that fit your schedule!
School Grounds Maintenance
(Playgrounds and Landscaped areas) Help keep our school grounds clean, green and beautiful. Volunteers are needed to help with litter pick up, flower bed maintenance, and grounds beautification projects throughout the year. This is a great opportunity to earn service hours.
Science Lab
Help your child's class learn science through hands-on science activities. Volunteers lead activities and assist students as they follow step-by-step procedures to explore classic science topics. Each classroom participates in 3-4 science labs per year. For each lab, parent volunteers attend a 1-hour orientation session and spend another 1.5 hours preparing/teaching the lab. At least 3 parent volunteers are needed per classroom. No experience is necessary; you will learn all you need to know at the orientations typically offered on Friday mornings. The labs are FUN and interactive!
Staff Appreciation
Volunteers are needed to help provide food and drinks for our monthly staff luncheons and other special staff appreciation goodies. We also need your support through donations to purchase specific lunches.
Spirit Wear
Assist with sorting and distributing the product when it arrives.
Special Event Volunteer Opportunities
Family Fun Night
This event is one of our biggest PTO fundraisers of the year. It takes placed in the Spring, but takes months of planning! We have crafts, games, food and entertainment and rely on many volunteers to make it happen. Here are some of the committees you can join: Auction, Bake Sale, Crafts, Games, Food, and Sponsorships to just name a few!
Fun Run
Our Fun Run is our fall fundraising event. We are looking for volunteers to help with fundraising, tracking donations and pledges, race-day planning, sponsorships, prizes, and publicity.
Grandparent's Day
The PTO hosts this FIS tradition for our 3rd grade classes only, but anyone can volunteer!
5th Grade Celebration
Committee members are needed to assist with our 5th Grade Celebration towards the end of the school year. Join our committee to plan decorations, food, games, inflatables, and other entertainment.
Variety Show
This fun event needs help organizing FIS students who choose to audition and if selected, perform for the school. This committee will meet to plan the show, conduct 2 days of auditions and produce the show for the school. The Variety Show will be scheduled for the Spring.
